Cambridgeshire Film Consortium

High quality film-related activities benefitting students & the wider community.

Cambridge Film Projects can help you with your screening and projection needs, whatever they may be, with years of experience of presenting films in unique locations throught the UK.

We ensure that we deliver all our screenings to the highest possible standard. Thanks to our team of specialists, we have the technical expertise to project in a range of formats including 70mm, 35mm, Blu Ray and high definition digital. We provide all the necessary equipment for screenings - including arranging the required power and water supplies - as well as organising radio licences, and our team is on hand for a smooth technical set-up and expert projection.

Please contact us to discuss your project, as the options below are only a guide.

Screen hire

We have a variety of screens, ranging in size from 12ft x 10ft (4m x 3m) to our giant 50ft x 25ft (15m x 7.5m) Airscreen.  This allows for audience capacities of up to 10,000 people, whilst our pop-up micro-cinema [LINK?] gives an intimate experience in 3D for 10 people. From drive-in movies to national tours of cult classics and major outdoor events, Cambridge Film Projects’ giant inflatable Airscreen has been seen across the country.  We offer consultancy and technical assistance for your indoor screenings too, so if you’re planning to show any film just about anywhere in the UK, please contact us to request a quote.

Pop-up Cinema & Retail Spaces

Cambridge Film Projects specialises in instant cinema, including our 3D pop-up cinema as seen in Cambridge’s main shopping centres, the Grand Arcade and the Grafton Centre. Cambridge residents may have seen our recent initiative in conjunction with the Cambridge Film Trust where locally made short films and specially curated regional archive footage was shown in several empty shop units in Cambridge, including the former Habitat building on Fitzroy street and a smaller unit in All Saints Passage.

Projection

Cambridge Film Projects own high-class projection equipment for 70mm, 35mm, Blu-Ray and High Definition Digital films, because film quality is a priority for us.  We can also project onto buildings, as part of site-specific projects, as well as presenting more conventional screenings looking for an innovative touch.  Our extensive range of lenses enable us to cover all potential location challenges.

Film programming

Cambridge Film Projects is led by experienced film programmer Tony Jones. We can advise you on your choice of film and format as well as source the film, providing the expertise needed to get you the best value for money whilst maximising your event’s potential audience appeal.

Radio broadcasting

We have a supply of FM radios and can organise FM / AM / ADS radio broadcasts, ideal for drive-in movie events, silent disco experiences or for a novelty screening.  We can also supply UHF headsets.

Audio Equipment / Speaker system

We have a full PA system and use a D&B speaker and amplification system, and a Dolby CP500 cinema processor. For 70mm we have re-calibrated magnetic sound heads and appropriate pre-amps.  Our equipment enables us to determine speaker set-up with appropriate dropout so that sound will be of excellent quality for your audience but not travel further than your event’s parameters.

Event team

In addition to our projectionists and screening team, we can also provide a fully-trained events team to deliver a successful event - please visit the Team page to find out more.
